Hi all
I dummied up my chev in the fc tonight and realised that the drivers side head was just touching the seam on the firewall. Also could anybody tell me is a sump out of a 69 camaro same as hq, been told it is but the bottom of the sump rests on my cross member. Any hints and tips?

Sexyfc That is the norm with a Chev in to FE FC the firewall seem needs a little masaging as for the sump don't know what a 69 Comaro looks like . I suppose you are using a CRS front cross member Huh? ........FC427.........

John,

Have you got the box and driveline angles setup properly?

Maybe you're too low at the back but with the correct driveline angle you may be OK.

With the Holden V8 the passenger side head sits further back, it sounds the opposite for the Chev?

To dummy up the motor you wouldn't really need the chassis kit.

but if you're using it to hang cross members off it may come in handy.  Wink

 Hi nes138 Sure do with the chassis kit  it also gives you a rear gear box mount and tail shaft loop......FC427......

When i put my 283 in my ute i found i had 2 different sumps in the shed 1 was HQ and the other I dont know. Ifound the HQ didnt fit it was too deap in the mid section and hit the cross member on the sloping part. You need an early style sump.

I put a 350 into a hr a few years ago and i had to put a sump to suit a chev into LC LJ because as has previously been said the bottom of the sump hit the crossmember as it is now there still isnt much clearence but it fits.

in NSW you do not have to have a chassis kit for engineers/rego i know i've done it a couple of times with a couple of different engineers, i'm guessing yor in VIC so i don't know there regs

 I want That engineers  name and contact details as well, every time I have done the conversion I have needed a chassis kit also ........FC427......
