Gary,my other FC already has the CRS hump in it which is why I have decided to modify that car.There is practically no floor left in the Ek.... Roll Eyes

I had a look first hand at Jamie's progress today, first class work and given the quality of some of the repair panels, it is an absolute credit to his metal working skills. I'll be the first one knockin on his door if he opens a panel shop  Grin

Couldn't help myself, i was just having some fun gus, I agree with you on the quality of the work Jamie is doing, nice neat welds with plenty of penetration, keep up the pics we all enjoy seeing another car coming together.

You just beat me to that one Pedro.Thanks for the nice comments guys they are appreciated.Not much chance of me opening a panel shop Glenn,I'd need to be a fair bit quicker than I am at the moment...As I mentioned,the reason I enjoy this stuff is because it's not my job.If you did it everyday it would become a task and would probably lose interest.More soon,Cheers,Jamie.

Yes Officer..........I assure you that this roller bearing turbo and fuel injection were, in fact, factory fitted in 1961!!!

This build brings back so many memories. My FE was in similar condition. Youve really gotta wonder why we bother. But then I get to go for a drive and a play then I know why I bothered. Keep persisting, You'll get there.

Hi all,got a little bit more done over the weekend.Drivers outer sill all welded on and drivers dogleg repaired and all steel!Although will obviously need a little bit of filler just to smooth it out nicely...

Hi all,have got a bit more done in the last couple days,here's some pics...


Got the passenger side sill on and repaired the dogleg...


Started on the rear quarter lower section this afternoon...

Made up a basic profile gauge....


After some Leon inspired metal work,I manufactured a new patch for this lower section as Rares don't do these anymore...




Stitched it in and checked the profile,all looking good...

All welded and smoothed out...


Sill all finished and a bit of work involved to fix the leading edge of the sill where they fold it up (all bunched up).Hopefully I will finish the rear quarter tomorrow.More photos soon.Cheers,Jamie.

Weddo,I have used "black steel" which is 1.6mm? for the structural parts (inner sills,crossmembers and lower parts of A pillars) and normal mild steel sheet (1.2mm) for the other small patches.Have since finished the lower rear quarter repair.More pics soon.

ok...... I've got a sheet of 1.6, a couple of 1.2, some MIG wire and a carton of palies. Do you reckon you could come around and build me a car?? Grin

Back again,I finally finished off the rust repairs on the left rear sill and now only have the little bit on the drivers side sill and the bumper lip to do then the shell is rust free!I have also repaired the original passenger side front door although I'm not real happy with it (it has had a couple repairs before and I don't like using filler).So far I have three doors and the boot lid basically done.Passenger side rear door,front guards and bonnet to do.I think I'll start dismantling the front end so it can be sand blasted while I'm finishing the panels.Then it can go back on it's wheels,Yeehaa!Some update pics...

i am very impressed.
i am a fabricator and the gooses at work say that sort of stuff is too  hard, ya gotta be a panel beater.
i dont know how much experience you've got but that is some quality work!
