Added a few new lines to our map this week.
Every time Cathy and I go cruising in the FC we mark on a map where we've been.
Went South this week and covered some new roads we haven't done before
This is where we went




PS IT'S NOWHERE NEAR WIDGIEMOOLTHA

I just wish they would start marking gravel roads more clearly on the maps

It started out as one of the local main roads

ANOTHER 1000km + on the odometer

We also have the North West Map....for our trips to Monkey Mia and Coral Bay (still thinking about the drive to Broome. Cathy keeps suggesting flying would be quicker...(but how boring would that be ?))

And the Australia Map from the CRUISE to Jindabyne and Sydney

For the cruise to Mt Gambier we are considering......
 option A ...driving the Albany, Esperance, Norseman route    just so we can colour in another couple of lines.
OR option B....Pop into Karrratha (just 1535km north)to visit some friends who have just moved there. Then take the scenic coast road North, Turn right at Darwin,visit Ayers Rock ( I've always wanted to visit Ayers Rock ) Then cruise to Mt Gambier via The Barrossa Valley.....sounds easy

Looks like some cool miles.
Great to keep tabs on where you've been.
Looks like there are many roads yet to be travelled.

Option c ... You could go directly to Ayers Rock via Leonora, Warburton ect. Went that way myself a few years ago. Dirt roads are well marked and you would have a good chance of picking up some spare parts for the FC. Make sure the surfboards tied down tight.

Great stuf surfer, I will never forget getting very drunk when I was living in Perth and myself and a mate went and bought a HZ station wagon for 400 bucks still rego back in 1994.  We woke the next day and dont remember buying it..,....... anyhow we changed the gearbox and siliconed up the rust.  We then spent 25 bucks and changed it into our names and drove it right through the bottom end of WA and far beyong visiting every place there (I will vever forget the big trees)  We broke down in the middle of bum f(*&k and had to replace the welsh plugs!!!  then drove back through SA to Vic.  You could never replace those times and will never forget them, doing it all on a cheap budget!!  The poor ol wagon ended up in a tip in Noosa heads.  Also remeber changing the oil on the side of the road somwhere in WA, too big a place, absolute great times was the old road trips (wouldnt do it again now like that though)

Great idea, Surferboy.   Suggest getting a Hema Australia Road Atlas, which is in book form, with good detail on every page.   We bought one when we went on our round the block trip in 2003, and marked all the roads/places we went to on it with a highlighter.  Now when we get nostalgic, all we have to do is open a page and the memories come back.   You have some great places in WA,  Denmark is one of them.  Lucky Bay a bit further down the road is one of the prettiest spots you will ever see.  Still can see the pod of dolphins surfing in one of the little bays near there early one morning.  Cheers, and happy travels,   Mike.

Drove down to The Porongurups for a few days away
5 days, 1100km
I think we chose the wrong week !
If it wasn't misty, it was drizzling. If it wasn't drizzling it was raining. If it wasn't raining it was bucketing down and if it wasn't bucketing down it was a thunderstorm !

Went South in the FC again for a week away from work 


added a couple of new lines to our map
Covered about 1,200km overall
It would have been more if it hadn't RAINED AGAIN ALL WEEK !


This is Highway 1 on the road between Manjimup and Walpole
Not much room for error 





Stayed in a lovely chalet in Walpole where the local 'mob' visited each day
