How to make a 3spd Crash box stronger!!!

Hi Guys,
Putting a fairly hot 179 in my EH and really want to keep the 3 spd crash box just for originality.
Would like to pick your brains as to what you can do to make the box stronger, anything will help. And also whether there are heavy duty clutches etc available for them and who makes them?

I hate to sound negative but... if your engine (and your driving style) require the use of a heavy duty clutch I can see you driving right over whats left of the crashbox with monotonous regularity. You could fit the hardest, skinniest tyres you can find on the back, with a low ratio open diff.. but I doubt that's a realistic option either. Good luck.

Fill it full of that engine grout stuff, that should make it pretty sturdy 
The only other way is to completely re-engineer the box.
How about a supra 5 speed and make up an "old skool" shifter for it?

I don,t think you can make the gearbox any stronger. The only thing you can do is get the box rebuilt using as many new parts as possible ie, cluster gear, syncros, syncro hubs, good quality bearings ect. For the first few miles run the box in gently, change the oil to get rid of the first bit of crap in box, then add a good gearbox additive and good gear oil and then change gearbox oil and additive every time you change the engine oil. That way you keep the oil in the box clean and hopefully free of crap////////. Hope this helps you.       Cheers Al       P.S the only other way is to buy heaps of gearboxes.
