This is the car that I should never have sold. My old '58 FC Special. One of those ones that you regret the minute it drives out the drive-way. Apparently it went to Yamba Nthrn NSW where it was painted upholstery redone & the wiring tidied up. Would love to know where she is now & how she'e going. If anyone knows please PM me.

Have found a vin no. L141968. I tried R.T.A but because of privacy they can't look anything up. If anyone has any other ideas I would like to hear them.

Thanks, Dean.

Dean, that looks more like an engine # than a vin #
The vin or chassis # would look more like FC-#####-S
Good luck with the search

Hi Dean,

Is this the one, this is a link to the ad on Trading post, it is the same colour and has the same wheels. It is in Albury

http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Classic-Unique-Cars/Vintage-Classic-Cars/AdNumber=TP003016360?BackToResult=true&AdOnTop=

I hope that it is and that you have found the one that you have been looking for

Hi Keith,

Yes I think that this is my old car. I had a freind come around last weekend in his FC with a mate of his in his FJ. We were talking about what I intended to do with one of the shells I have in stock. Tony in the FJ said he had seen a red & white sedan in the trading post recently as that was the colour scheme I am thinking.

When they left I thought I would check out the red & white car to get an idea how mine would look when done. Lo & behold what was the first FC that should appear on the page but the one you have linked to. I called Jodie over & as I said "look it's my old car" I started to tear up Cry. She must of thought I was crazy Shocked. It must have tugged on a heart string though cause she let me put down a deposit on it on Sunday night. A minute after I finished talking with the owner another person rang him about it so it must be fate.

I am fairly confident that this could be my old car as it has a lot of the features that my old car had. The wheels on the front of this one are 7" & I had 6", but that is not hard for someone to change. The front bumper being FE not FC centre is another similarity. When I sold the car originaly the next owner rewired & re-upholstered it which have ben done as well as a recent paint job & engine....motor re-build.

The guy in Albury said it was purchased in Warwick QLD which is only 3 hours away from Lismore NSW which is where I was living at the time I sold it. The guy that bought it off me lived in Yamba NSW & that is only a couple of hours further away from Warwick than Lismore, so it didn't go too far until its trip down south (if it is the same car) & even if it isn't it will be as close as possible to it for me.

So here's hoping for a happy re-uniting  Grin.

Cheers,
          Dean.

Dean,

I have been comparing the photo's and you will notice that the tyres are the same, the wibroc mirror on the drivers side is the same, the venetians have been removed and Mudflaps have been added.

It would nearly have to be the same car, I think.

Good luck with it again

Hi Keith

Dean's gone away with work for the week, he's getting excited about buying it back. Must sell my HSV so he can get his old car back, then we will see how many he restores that he has downstairs or sells for someone else to restore (we have 4, at least 3 that have some potential).

Location of aerial is also the same, but that is the factory location.
Sure as hell could be the same car.
Now you can look forward to making new memories with the ol' girl.

Congratulations on the find.  Even if its not the same car its is still a very close match to what you are looking for, but Im excited for you cos I think its the one.

For about three years now i have been looking for my grandfathers HT Premier Sedan in Monza Blue with a White Roof.  Have not managed to find one yet for sale, (Found on one the Adelaide Bay to Birdwood this year but not on the market) but the hunt continues and hearing stories like this re sparks a glimmer of hope.

Keep us posted and .......................................................................

Hope it turns out this is the car you have been lookig for Dean, although with the weather you've been having down there lately maybe you should be looking for a boat Cheesy Cheesy, I see you're back in the bay I'll catch up with you later this week.

Dean

Sounds like a happy reunion. Not sure whether I could part with my FC even though it is promised to the next generation.

I made need another one to nurture just in case.

I can sympathise with you on the tearing up side.

Cheers

Fingers and toes crossed for you.
Let us know how you get on.
I bought back my Grandfathers HR sedan years later after it was mistakenly sold. It certainly gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling to be reunited.

Cheers
