help identifying fc

Hi there.
I'm new tothis forum and looking for some assistance.
i've just undertaken a new project..restoring an fc special sedan.
I'm gonna need heaps of advice but first off i'm trying to locate some id numbers.
doesn't appear to have a compliance plate in the engine bay..
anywhere else i should be looking or are there any other id numbers anywhere.
all i have is the old qld licence plates..
any help would be appreciated.

Hey funkafide,the compliance plate is normally pretty obvious on the right hand side of the firewall (passenger side) near the bonnet hinge.There is also a chassis number on the left down by the chassis rail.As I said the plate is very obvious so if you cant see it,it's not there.Are there two holes in this spot?Has any work been done in the engine bay (moved the plate and welded up the holes)?Cheers,Jamie.

yeah i can see the spot where it was..
two holes, one looks like it has some black silicone in it.
i'll look for the other number tomorrow when there'ssome light.
is it gonna be a major head$#@* as far as rego goes with no comp.plate.??
Can i get one off a wrecking yard??
and how much info can i get from the frame no.

As long as there is a sub-frame number you shouldn't have too much trouble with rego.
My wife's ute was in a similar situation and that was fine.

mmm.can't seem to find the chasis no. either.
any more precise clues as to it's location ie.near crossmember,wishbone,steering column, seen from inside engine bay or behind guards or underneath??

on the subframe, (inner gaurd, driver side) in the engine bay facing upwards, across and forward from the dissy, may be faint if the engine bay is repainted.
 there is also a possibillity the subframe has been replaced, i thing on a FE its on the other side.

I guess that means the 2452nd FC Special Sedan put together in the Brisbane assembly plant.
Therefore if i had a complianceplate the No. would be FC 225 2452 B

Hi - I assume the chassis no starts 8 - 2452 - B

This is an early Brisbane FC and is actually the 1452nd FC off the Brisbane line since the numbers started at 1000!     But the body number on the ID plate does not follow the chassis number at all.
From my records it appears that these early Brisbane cars had bodies made in Adelaide and the only 2 that I have on record are as follows;
FC-225-10-A  which has chassis number 8-1352-B  and
FC-225-1892-A  which has chassis number 8-2586-B
Therefore if your car follows this trend it would have had a body number around 1700-A

I can locate a ID plate for you to complete your car and as Stinky says - it is not usually regarded as an essential part of registration. All said and done it's better to have one there than get nasty questions about why there isn't one there

Ok. I just made the plate No.s up..thinking that's what they should be from reading a tech article somewhere.
Also got the chassis No. wrong is actually 8 2652B.
A id plate probably would help with rego. if i can get one.
Looks like car has been modified for floor shift (hole cut out in floor, different steering column, gearbox support added, and looks like a bracket welded in for bucket seats).
I'll be looking to go back to column shift and bench seats.
Hopefully not too much messing around.
