G'day Guys
I need to buy a new set of points for 'Ruby' ( formerly fast eddies old girl)
Old mate behind counter of local auto shop opens catelouge, finds part number gives me the set. Get home wrong ones. Go back, he cant help me anyfurther.
It's the type that has a little circluar based screw thingy down the far end of the base plate that allows you to adust the gap.
Does anyone know the brand/part number i am after. An online mob that sells them would be nice ( convenient) and yes i have checked reare spares but they don't have pics for the contact pointd and i would like to avoid the drama of my first go at changing them.
Thanks in advance
Whale

Hey Whale, Do you have a Red motor fitted? From what you described (circular based screw thingy) it sounds like you have Lucas points as fitted to some HR and HK Holdens, same as some 4 cyl F%&D Cortinas and Minis. Part number should be GL19. Try an Auto shop like Repco or Coventrys, they should have a Bocsh book with pictures. Seb

Hi Whale If you running a grey motor you will need Bosch GB504 or equivalent.
Cheers Jim
PS, If you want Bosch you better buy a few sets as they have just stopped producing them.

ARGH!!!! the saga continues
If anyine has the original shop manual i am referring to the picture on pg288 The Bosh GB504's dont have the extended base plate that houses the "eccentric screw 'B')". Been around town twice trying to find these bad boys. Blokes behind counter haven't been the greatest of hope.
Help please!!!!!

Thanks guys but the GB504's don't have that extended part to their base plates that i require. The one in the picture of my workshop manual ( and the one in my car) has a right angle/elbow apprearence to the base plate of the the points set!!!!!!!!

I have to admit that I haven't seen a set of those points for over 20 years! I think they were superseded by the newer design in the 70's and any old original sets have since dried up.

The later design points will work - they just can't be adjusted the same way

Hey Whale, I have found a box full of N.O.S. genuine Holden points part number 7426989 while cleaning out my shed. The points are in a see through plastic box with "HOLDEN" on the top. The Holden parts book states these are for FJ-HR. I also have a set of N.O.S Bosch points part number GB7 in a plastic box which appear to be the same. If interested send me a p.m or phone 0438490598 between 7pm-10pm. Regards ACE
