Hi i have a FC Special Station Sedan and on the front guards there two little holes drilled on either side.What sort of badge /chrome belonged there.Anyone know where i can get the bits.I have not been able to find any photos with anything there.

Hi Walter. There should be about 5 holes in the side of the guard, more or less in a straight line. A Special Station Sedan has the same stainless trim as FC Sedans on the front guard, a spear about 4' long. It's not exactly clear where on the guards these holes are that you mention. However, if they are on the top at the back, it's possible they were for these "Fender Mount" mirrors:  Is that any help? cheers RET |

Walter sent me this pic which I'm sharing in case anyone else knows the answer. Obviously my brilliant theory about fender mirrors has been blown sky high...  The holes seem too small to be for Buick-style "port-hole" badges, and it would be a strange spot to put them, too. Does your car have a "dealer stripe" at all, or just the standard FC diagonal flash on the back door and horizontal strips along the side? I ask because I have seen a diecast badge with the name of the Autolux / Tilli's kit the car (or ute, as this one was) had fitted. Anyone else got any ideas? cheers RET |

The holes are identical on either side,would they be factory standard holes?

Definitely not factory. There's not even a NASCO accessory that required fitting like that. Only thing I can think of is some sort of badge that a previous owner decided to fit.

Walter,
Maybe a previous owner decided his own personal touches. Every now and then when I have a bit too much of the old amber liquid I go out to the shed and low and behold Ive added something on!!! On a serious note maybe the previous owner did put his own badges on. I contemplated for ages whether or not to put some FB stars on my bonnet, I finally gave in and put them on and I think it looks pretty good, next bloke may think otherwise so maybe thats a theory for the holes (not FB stars)

8)Alcohol drills and old holdens can be a dangerous mix.I will never forget the day i attacked the bonnet with the drill to put on a hood ornament. I guess i might try a few random special badges and see if they fit the holes and the guards.

Walter,maybe after feeling the power of the Grey,the previous owner decided to attach some "160HP" chrysler badges to the side......yeah ,yeah I know...the time frame is all wrong.....Just thought of it.  |

My guess would be a EH type special sript badge which were a very popular retro spruce up look in the 60s and 70s. Also popular to fit too spats etc. The spacing between the holes looks very similar to the badge pins.
