At present my FC rebuild is nearly complete and hope to have it on the road finished by early to mid June.  I cannot make up my mind wether or not to put a visor on, as i dont know if it will suit the look of my car, also holes have to be drilled in the roof............  I have a bonnet with louvres in it so naturally the visor will get as many punched out as possible if i go ahead with it.  As a rule i dont genearally ask opinions as i like to make up my own mind but to all out there do you think a visor on a mild custom with bubble spats, dummy lake pipes etc etc will look the part or make the ol girl look like granpas daily?Huh? cant make up my bloody mind, cheers all

I think it is a personal choice, however I do think that if your going to fit a visor you should strengthen the roof by placing a reinforment steel plate with captive nuts. Visors have a habit of rattling loose and in extreme cases can be ripped clean off the roof.

I think it would look good, may even lower the profile of the roof a little.

Cheers Jim

Guys, I had a visor fitted to my car until recently. It does look good, but I feel that a custom looks better without it. If you do fit 1, it does have to be fixed very securely, as they do come loose if not fitted right. I feel much better having taken it off. I think the car looks better too.

Boys,
I've gone the Bog stock look without the grandpa attachments and dropped it on its guts. even though its running a grey I will still get to cruising speed and turn heads when I get it going

Say no to drugs and sunvisors.

But your car is your D. An FC on steroids with a sunvisor would be a good "sleeper"

Dont worry NES, im running a decent grey!!!  At this stage, no visor for me, as i do take Jim and colts posts in my stride as they are definately knowledgebale in the aspects of FC's!!!  But I will leave it ooff forawhile and ponder further on the idea over a 12 month period, cheers all

Personally, I say leave it off. If you want to try the look out, grab some cardboard, a rattle can and some masking tape and mock one up. It'll give you an idea from 50m at least.

IMHO, it "fattens" the car up making it look stumpy.

Tough choice Tayz....

You could almost put it in the same basket as what Ken says about bumper overriders..... customs cars without, stock cars with.... Up to you totally!!!

Depends where you drive too... sometimes it's hard top see some of the traffic lights with a visor in the city......

Until you get a chance to do Stinky's suggestion with the cardboard, here's another preview....

Cheers

Tayz,

I feel somewhat of an authority on losing sunvisors, NEV lost his at 110kph on the Hume Freeway last year, while being trailered back from the Nats Angry

I'm not sure they were designed to go faster than a stockie and if your car is capable of cruising at 110 I don't think I'd fit one.

FWIW I think they look great on stockies - as CraigA says, "without one its like an old man without a hat" Grin not sure they work on modifieds, but as with all things, its your car....

Cheers
