help with carby on fe

hello im a newy here  can any one point me in the right direction to some one in brisbane area that can help me with  carby probs , i have just purchased jimmys old fe off here it has a single stromby on it the motor is a 138 taken out too a 140 and mild cam but the carby seems to be sucking alot and lil blur on take off and such like its starving or needing a bigger carby or somthing is there any holden guys out there in brissy that specialise on these ol girls that can assit me to putting her right and getting her best possible smooth runing out of fe4fun cheers and  happy new yrs too all , Keith David.years ago id of attempted  fixing it my self but not too good with things now must be getting old an senial, ha.

Hey Remembermeok.......Jimmy here....Mate,the rego papers have arrived here,they are no good to you because they are in my name.You better contact the Transport dept and get it sorted....i think the noise you are hearing is just the normal sound she makes as the air is sucked into the carby through the Lynx filter,just make sure it is tight on the throat of the carby.....Cheers Jimmy

pull your sparkplugs out what are they doin ?? wet??

I would check timing - dwell (points gap) and static timing.

Engine timing may be retarded.

If not check if the accellerator pump in the carby is working, as you depress the throttle does a stream of fuel shot into the carby throat? Is the stream strong and smooth?

 ;)Keith,for starters get rid of the LYNX aircleaner as ive found that it is hard to get a grey running right with one of these aircleaners,and the sucking noise is were its coming from!!install the original one or go to a wreckers and get a paper filtered aircleaner of a later model early holden and i bet that it will fix the problem,with the foam one i bet you your mixtures(air to fuel ratio)will not be correct,so try this first!!cheers jamie

wow  thanks for the response but yes i think its the air filter   i tihnk  i will get an origidige one asap and see how it goes then and   jimmy the rego is transfered matei got receipts for it last wk waiting for rego papers know in post cheers keith it was all done the next day mate . no probs cya keith .

now were getting some were put a carbi kit in  seems too be runnig much better ,
changed  the air cleaner  . lookin good .
