Hey guys, can anyone tell me more about the modifications needed to fit a VK commodore fuel tank into an FC? (Or any other larger capacity tank that fills from the original position).
I've just fitted a warm 186 auto to my project and think that a larger capacity tank is the way to go.

Ace, I've read that you have fitted one with little trouble, can you tell me more about what you had to do?
I think that the VK filler is on the side rather than at the back? Do you have to turn it 90 degrees to get the filler to line up? Is much cutting needed to the boot floor to get it in? Can I still keep my spare wheel on the L/H side?
Did you have to calibrate the gauge, or replace the sender? etc' etc'.....

I would appreciate any info as I have been looking around at wreckers to find one that will fit nicely.
It would be a shame to re-invent the wheel!
Thanks, Damon.

 Wink Hi Damon
The VK tank was modified by a radiator repair shop.

A large section of the boot floor was cut out including the spare wheel well. The VK neck was cut off and soldered up.The tank was trial fitted and bolted to the rails, the VK tank straps were also used. The FC neck was cut off and soldered to the VK tank. The VK sender unit was used with a modified instrument panel.
Hope this helps

Thanks ACE,
your mod sounds ok, however I would like to keep the spare wheel well if I can.
I have found a Rambler tank that is pretty deep and has the same offset as the FC. I will also be using an recalibrated FC sender which should enable me to use the original gauge.
Thanks for the info though, hope it helps another modifier out there.
