any tips on polishing the body moulded chrome?

It's actually stainless steel (or it should be) which is a very hard metal and therefore harder to polish.
Head down to your local hardware store and they should stock polishing kits that fit up to power drills.
Get a little practice in on a bent or busted piece first.
I have found a loose mop is good for cutting then follow up with a stitched mop for the final polish.

I use a kit that fits up to my bench grinder, but if you aren't careful it can launch the metal at the floor at a fair rate of knots! Not good, especially for aluminium pieces

I'd go straight for the bench grinder attachment first, but start with some old stripes first.  I started with a smaller 1/2 horse grinder as it's not so viscious, then moved up to a bigger model, as it gets the polishing done quicker - especially if you are repairing a piece.

As all my stainless was off the vehicle, I took it all to a Marine polishing place in Mandurah, WA (they do polishing of aluminium stuff for boats) and they did the whole lot of the pieces to a mirror shine for $100...too easy!

Go the Purple Polish, works an absolute treat

Its just called Purple Polish. I get mine from the local truck supplies. The best polish on mags and bullbars ect by a country mile.
Great for chrome. I haven't tried it on stainless steel but I have been told its ok and can be used with steelwool.

As the spanner man says, its pretty good.  I used it on mine and it came up nearly new after not being touched since the 70's.  Me and my mates use it on anything chrome or stainless.  From memory you cant buy it everywhere but I think you get it pretty easy in QLD as thats where we used to buy it in bulk lots
