Diff Housing !!!!!

Hi Guy,s

I won a set of deep dished 15"x 8" and 15"x 7.5" wheels on Saturday they are of an SLR Torana and I am keen to fit them to my car.
I was wondering what diff housing I could fitt under the old girl and what it would shorten it by.
Any advice will be appreciated.

i have an LJ diff in my FC Van and they are 1" shorter each side

I was the one that posted that repley about the lj diff in my fc van I am using 14 x 8 with 4 inch internal offset
and i am running 245x50x14 tyes 265 don't fit 235x60x14 also fit

Thanks for the reply.

Could you answer a question for me or 2, can I retain the backing plates and the brake hardware (drums and linings) from the HR diff housing and fit it to the LJ housing and is there any tricks I should know when welding the HR brackets on.

I will measure the offset of the back wheels tonight

I don't think i'm going to be much help because I put the whole LJ diff assembly in my FC ,brake and all
But I was told that the LJ brakes are the same size as EH so it might be worth a try. As far as the mounts go I  had a diff place weld the FC mounts onto the LJ diff
it cost me $100

Im going to give the LJ diff a go hope to pick up a housing Friday.

Shock horror, I measured the back wheels tonight and they are 10" wide with 265x50r 15" do ya think Im asking a bit much! :-/ :-/ but they do have a 4"internal off set. (I think they may be just a bit to wide)

oh yeah
you are asking to much
the standard FE,FC wheel tubb is only about 260 mm wide
one problem i am having with the Lj diff a spare wheel
standard spares don't fit i have to get some wheels redished (inside offset is bigger than 4")

Allways the way, fix one thing and it leads to another  

I allso will have to try and swap or sell the back rims I geuss.

Do you know the right way to measure the rim, is it measured from the outside edges or is it a internal measurment. "hope I have said this right"

Hi,you could try a Volvo disc brake diff.
my diff had 10 inch rims with 265 tyres,on an FC wreck i bought....Good luck........BRAD......
PS...What style wheel are they?Would you sell them?
And if so, how much?...cheers ...

The wheels are Prime brand they are much like Dragway indy's, but I wont be leting them go as yet.
I wont to try a few things with the car first but will post them on the site if I deside to sell.

You measure the offset from the inside where the wheel
bolts to the axle to the outside edge (or is it inside edge) ???the side of the rim that is closest to the diff centre

260mm that leaves me 5mm to play with, mmmmm tubbs!!! 3/4 chassis!!!.  
nar getting to old for that.
