convertible FC

im a FC Lover
im looking to restore a FC sedan to FC convertible and was wrapped to see that someone's already done this.

Would like some thoughts from members on this HELP ME PLEASE!!!! how much would u estimate it'll cost and all the stuff - what did the guy who's done it before use as replaced parts (doors etc) What my first step should be etc.

How much will it cost?  If you have to ask you can't afford it

Seriously, be prepared to spend big.  I know the sort of money that John spent on his Nationals-winning convertible FE, and it's not for the faint-hearted.

Basically you have to fabricate all the parts (stretched doors, stainless trim and so on) yourself.

Your first step (if you're in Victoria) is to go along to their club meeting (Sept 10) and have a talk to John - he's a very approachable guy.

You will also find a copies of magazine features on John's cars here: http://scad.com.au/jwswing/jwholden/index.html, including the Street Machine one. That'll give you some idea of the scope of the project you're considering.

Brendan,  If you want a quality job you will be looking at over 50k.
If this doesn't scare you, then the place to start is the custom made chassis which ties the whole thing together to stop it twisting.  This is not the chassis you would buy from Castlemaine rod shop.
Next is 2 front doors split and rewelded longer, the rear doors split, shortened and welded into the body.
Custom made winder mechanisms, windscreen frames, convertible top etc, etc, etc.
It never ends.
