Driving to work , a strange noise  from under car ! Stopped and looked underneath,
Oil pouring out the front of the motor.
Drove home 500mt went ok no noise ran fine.
Any tips
Need any special tools (Harmonic balancer?)
All help appreciated.

Hard to say why the noise came and then went, but oil from the balancer area is most likely the seal.  You will need a harmonic balancer remover to fix.

Where do I get a remover from ?
I been to a couple of local garages "havnt seen one in 20 years".... "did have one somewhere"....
Any ideas??

Ed, I'd actually be surprised if your local auto shop had one.  Our workshop certainly doesn't have one because they borrow mine whenever we need one Tongue
Best bet is to ask someone at your club for a loan or if they would come round and give you some help one weekend.

Ed, I think you must be thinking of a red motor harmonic balancer remover as Grey motor  harmonic balancer removers are rare!

I thought I could make one if I could work out the thread, size in the balancer.
So Ken if you happen to know the size and the thread it would be a great help.

 :)there is actually 2 tools for this job 1 to remove the harmonic balancer and 1 to put it back on!!as trying to put a reco balancer back on takes much longer and in a fc there is no room to swing a hammer,good luck with your mission.....now where did i put my grey motor balancer remover??hehe cheers jamie Smiley

I've measured the thread and it is 1 and 1/8 inch diameter with 12G pitch.

Removed balancer expected to find lots of oil ...nothing!!!
On further investigation saw a lump on the sump.
Not happy. Will start new thread.
