For the purposes of conversion to early holden running gear, is the celica 5sp/toyota 4sp the same?

The certainly look similar, and the 4sp housing can be used to house the 5sp for ease of fitment.

More clearly: I have a celica 5 speed and CRS bellhousing. Can I use a conversion kit (tailshaft, slave, bracket, speedo cable, clutch etc) from a toyota 4 speed CRS conversion kit?

Thanks
Dave

Hi, im fairly certain you can, i had a v8 with celica 5 speed and blew it up in Darwin, mate had a toyota crown 4 speed and a corona 4 speed both looked the same but i used the crown as it was behind a 6cyl i thought it would be stronger, bolted straight up and lasted fine until i found another 5 speed so pulled it out and put new celica 5 speed back in. all 3 looked very similar and used same dellow bellow housing  and tailshaft,
cheers Nick

Thanks Nicko,

from what I can find out they are basically the same and everything should bolt up.

Cheers
