Hello,

My generator/regulator has failed.  I wish to replace it with an alternator.  I have sourced a rebuilt Bosch alternator from a 253 V8.

I am unsure of whether my generator is lucas or bosch as the regualtor is aftermarket.

Does the original brand of gen/reg matter?

What is the process for wiring this up?  How do you bypass the original remote regulator?

Hello,

I finally got a chance to pull out my old generator this afternoon and was planning to follow John's (Effie C) tips for the conversion.

I think I have an HQ? alternator already fitted?  It has an external regulator.  

Here is the old gen/alt that needs replacing


Here is the after market ingram regulator.



Here is my new generator.  It is also an ingram with internal regulator.



I'm not sure if I can use this old external regulator as described in John's first method?

Can someone please steer me in the right direction?
