Gary, I might not be from QLD, but IMHO there are no custom, private or prestige plates in the land of OZ, that had an ORIGINAL cost of $2300.

And it's a good thing your plates are the only plates in Australia with that combination, otherwise we could all have them and give the police a real hard time catching the right guy when our FC's are caught speeding.

So to answer your question, they are worth nothing to most of us, and worth a little to those with Utes, and maybe  worth a bit more if those with Utes are in QLD.

But I'd guess that someone who wants them will offer you the going rate for prestige  or custom plates, otherwise they would just order:

FC Ute
FE Ute
GM Ute
56 Ute
57 Ute
58 Ute
59 Ute

And so on.

Good luck anyhow, I hope you get what you are chasing.

What colour FC do you have ?

Got any Pics ?

Qld prestige plates like Gary is advertising for sale are $2300 to buy originally from Personalised Plates Qld (PPQ).  They are the private company contracted by Qld Transport to look after personalised plate issuing.

In Qld, you pay a higher '1 off' purchase price, and there is no extra annual fee (except standard rego & CTP).

Good luck with the sale, Gary.  At least you are offering it for resale at or near cost price.  Blokes are trying to offload these type of plates on ebay for $10K plus.  Doubt they ever sell them though, because as Blown-FC points out, anyone can go and order a combination which suits just as well.

regards Shayne.

Wow.

After the stink a couple of weeks ago about newbie treatment I find Blown_FC's response extremely harsh.  And actually, a quick glance at the PPQ web-site tells me that in fact "Prestige Plates" start at $2195.00, so Gary's claim of $2300 cost seems quite justified.

Perhaps the likely range of buyers is limited, but there's no need to be rude.  For all you know there might be a Queensland-based forum user with a Holden ute who might be interested.  Plates aren't any different to parts or accessories: they're worth what someone will pay for them.  The fact that they hold no value to you is completely beside the point.

Best of luck selling the plates, Gary.

Apologies for sounding HARSH Gary, that was not my intention, and for the record, I'm happy to stand corrected and educated re: cost of Plates.

I've bought a number of Custom type plates here in WA, and there is no annual fee either, just a one off purchase price.
Even our Custom Prestige Plates are only $165, and even if not exactly the same as the QLD version, nothing like $2300... The most expensive I could find were our custom series polycarbonates which are only $710.

Once again I apologise if my post was rude, I guess after reading it again I can see how you thought that, but it really wasn't intended as such, and I do like to see pics....so if you have an FC Ute ( hence the FE / FC forum posting ), can we see it ?

Mark,

My ad says this is only "available" (with this combination) plate left in Australia.

FYI - Here is a bit of info on Plates available from Personalised Plates Qld.

PERSONALISED PLATES

Cost: $395
Combination Criteria:
3 three letters and two numbers OR - two or three numbers and three letters -

FC UTE  - does not fit the above criteria
FE UTE  - does not fit the above criteria
GM UTE - does not fit the above criteria

56 UTE - not available - sold
57 UTE - not available - sold
58 UTE - not available - sold
59 UTE - not available – sold

PRESTIGE PLATES
Cost: From $2,195

Cost me $2,235 (with accessory plates)
My apologies.

Combination Criteria:
Minimum  three letters and three numbers - Maximum six letters and numbers - Any amount of spaces as long as total numbers and letters and spaces adds up to a maximum of 7.

FC UTE - Available
FE UTE - Available
GM UTE - Sold (nearly as good as my plate!!)

So there you go – I was surprised there were a couple of really good ones left - thanks for the tip - I have just bought them.

I think sometimes people under estimate the value of a good plate on a nice vehicle - I see cars everyday that people have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on restoring but do not finish it off by putting a nice plate on it - even a personalised one at $395 - not much money in the scheme of things.

I also have a 2003 CV8 Monaro - and yes, I have a Prestige Plate on it - GMH CV8 – on $70,000 motor car - what's another couple of grand?

I have had offers of between $7,000 and $12,000 for this plate - but it will go with the car when I sell it.

So it is not to hard to imagine that my GMH UTE plate (which can go any Holden Ute) might just be worth some reasonable $$$.

There are heaps of people out there with plenty of bucks driving pretty nice utes and I would be most surprised if I couldn't sell it.

As a long time Holden enthusiast I just thought I'd give first option to any member of the Queensland FE FC Club who might be interested in making a reasonable offer.

Anyway hope this info helps.

Best regards to all who replied.

Gary Harris
