Look at them a little closer and you will notice a heap of differences.
The blinkers on the front of an FB are seperate from the bonnet line chrome ,wheras EK are part of that chrome.
Dash fascia's are either smooth FB or crosshatched EK
Grilles are 3 floating bars on an FB and 5 with uprights on EK
The centre bonnet bar on EK has a section for a Badge recessed into it , FB are smooth and different in their shape.

And then there are the differences between the base model STANDARD's and the luxury SPECIAL models in both model's

Interior seat trim and door trim different.

FB had 'stars' on the guards the EK had 'dashes'.  The 'Special badge' is slightly different too.

FB had vaccuum wipers.  EK electric wipers.

EK has extra stainless moulding behind rear doors.

Hubcaps different.  FB were plain. EK had the Holden lion.

Not sure what you call it but just beneath the front windscreen where the air flows through is different.

EK was first Holden with auto option being the Hyrda-matic (or high dramatic). Not available on the FB or any previous models.

Yes I am. When I was younger I thought FE's and FC's were the same but now I can pick em like a dirty nose.
because I am not a fan of em (fb ek) i've never taken any notice but a mate of mine bought one and I cant tell. I can pick out every other model of holden (ej-eh)(vh-vc)(fj-fx)etc

dont worry, about 90% of the 20 mechanics at my work probably couldnt tell a fj from a hz, hell man what country do they think they are in, they get the shits with me if I mention old holdens and start saying new bmw's and mercedes handle and old holdens dont.
They probably ride pushy's with training to avoid risk of falling over too.

I'm no expert on them, but as far as Specials are concerned, the FB has the scallop from front door to fin with the secondary colour in it, and the EK has a different coloured roof.  For the other models, it requires a closer look and Stewart's checklist.
