Just wondering if any of yous might have an answer ...  Grin

I came across an old wiper motor at the local friendly wrecking yard (NOT !!!) Tongue and the bloke there told me it was for an FE-FC. It seems this wiper motor is an electric 3-pole type.

Can someone please explain the go to me cos I only ever heard of early Holdens up to the EK being of the good 'ol vacumn type. Cool

Am I missing something here otherwise Huh Huh

There was an electric wipe motor sold as an accessory for FE FC. Check out this post.

It is a fairly popular conversion to mount EK wipers to FE FC. These are pretty much a bolt up job. I have also seen Early Falcon and Magna motors adapted to EK mount to give 2 speed operation. Another option is that someone has adapted another Holden or any other make wiper to fit. Get a pic and post it here and someone may be able to identify it.

I checked out that post and yes, the wiper motor I came across looks very similar to the one featured in the post. However it looks very much the worse for wear so I don't know if there would be much life (if any) left in it.

Can anyone identify this one for me. At present I only have single speed working, but if indeed it is a two speed I will start to mess with the wiring.

I suspect it is only a single speed unit, as there are only 2 wires coming out.

2 speed motors should either have the slide switch as pictured in another thread or 3 wires or 5 wires (like the Lucas motors).

Just finished my 2 speed wiper conversion....

a psychological milestone passed!!!

i ended up using a Preslite  motor from a VN commodore.

this fits the EK wiper base.

A 5 pin relay is required to make the auto park function work.

you can use a negative ground switch but this requires 2 additional relays.
it is easier to use an EH or HR switch etc.

the wiper body must be slightly modified to give the wiper arm the correcet clearance.. but this is simple.

the wiper arm off wiper motor also has to be modifed to accept the std linkages.

Hey matt,

I had exhausted all avenues of 2 speed wiper conversions because as usual my set up was different...

so i was once again flying solo.
what made my 2 speed conversion problematic was the fact of having wiper switch on the indicator stalk ala VB-VK commodore.

A negative ground switch will not work with a preslite (XM) motor.
The easy option would be to use a EH or similar switch but I did not want a wiper switchon the dashboard.

The VN motor allowed me to use a negative groud switch (activating relays) to provide the (+) for fast and slow speeds.

FWIW Ken was a great help in supplying me an XM motor and other info however he also told me the VB-VK switch would not (or would be difficult) to work... I did have to do my own research here to prove it to myself.

from that research I did find the VN comm wiper motor to be easier to wire up.

other options for 2 speed wipers are the Castle Auto electric kits for around $300.

my conversion cost me the $20 for the motor, and $29 for a brand new switch.

the biggest indignity is performing a conversion and having things that do not function properly or reducing the useability of the car.. since the intended purpose of any modification is to improve the car.. right?!

for those needing a wireing diagram, there is a guy who did all the work and posted it here... the principles of operation are the same for a Preslite and Lucas motor.
