and as always it was big event with lots of
bargins and alot of walking aswell .
but after talking to a few people i got the
impression that it could be the last due to
public liabillitiy insurance problems . did anyone
else who went there here this  ?

cause it would be a shame to loose this once
a year event .  Sad

Coolaride,

I went there today as well, (Great day) I spoke with some mates that had stalls there but nothing was mentioned about the insurance.
And as you say it would be bad news to loose such a good turn out.
Allso it will cause concern with other swap meets.
Most likely costs will rise to have a stall and enter the venues.

I have heard of this happening with other events, public liability insurance goes through the roof and the events are no longer viable. I have heard of various reasons too -

1. Insurance Companies capitalising on the Sept 11th events and cranking up the rates.

2. The big insurance company collapse (HIH?), probably just another profit booster, you would think the remaining insurance companies would be getting more business.

3. Increased claims on public liability insurance, usually prompted by the ambulance chasing lawyers. I have seen ads recently from lawyers encouraging people to come forward and start court action even if the incident happened years ago.

Who said "greed is good"?
