A friend is after info on updating an FJ front and rear ends. What is the most common (read easiest) way to go about this? Will HR gear fit up?

Gday Stinky,
Depends how far your mate wants to go with the mods.  'Easy' can be a tricky thing to answer.
HR front will fit up, but the quick way to go if only chasing 13" wheels and 'better' braking is to fit up FB or EK (or FE or FC) rear axle (drum to drum) and get a pair of early FE hubs for the front.  These early ones (getting a bit hard to get now) go straight onto the FJ and allow fitment of 13" wheels.
Dunno if any of this helps.  Tongue

Cool, thanks Shayne, that's a good start.
