going home

gday tim,
can you tell me what the guys usually organise for going home at the end of nats. do most go home in convoy or individually ?
cathy is willing to endure the drive there but were flying home. this means driving to sydney (a few nights in a 5* hotel was part of the compromise) to freight the wagon home.
i look forward to cruising with the guys to sydney.

There's always a bit of a mixture when it comes to Nationals convoys, as the Easter holiday period provides entrants with a few holiday options.

a) I'd guess that most members of interstate clubs generally travel in convoy, taking a day or two each way for the journey & stay 3 or 4 nights in the host-town. Spending anywhere from 3-7 nights away depending on the distance.

b) Some members choose to travel one-way in convoy with their club & extend their interstate holiday to enjoy either the week preceeding or following the Nationals with their family.

c) Some families choose to spend the whole 2 week holiday period away from home, using the Nationals as a mid-holiday highlight.

There should be a HUGE convoy heading north out of Jindabyne after the Nats, featuring dozens of Holdens from Sydney, North Coast NSW & Queensland.  I'm sure that both you & Cathy would more than welcome to join the NSW Club cruise back to Sydney.

PS.  The new WA Club website looks great, especially the 30+ member profiles!  How's the Club going with preparing a convoy from Perth?    The mere thought of being part of a HUGE FE-FC convoy cruising west across the Nullabor to a future WA Nats has got me pretty excited.

It is highly likely that most of the Sydney contingent will be hitting the road on Easter Tuesday, and of course you are most welcome to travel with us.  The trip back to Sydney will most likely be an all-day, one day affair for most, and I'm sure we'd be able to make sure you found your way to whichever 5-star establishment you're booked into.

W.A. people,

I'm 'fairly highly placed' in the NSW Rail Transport Museum.  We run a train called the 'Southern Aurora' in NSW & some parts of Victoria.  If any of you are interested, I'll see what kind of price might be negotiated to run the train to & from Perth for you, including car transporting carriages, similar to the 'Indian Pacific'.  It may save all of you 2483 miles of driving in each direction (Forrestfield to Sydney Terminal).

The train is air conditioned, has a sleeping capacity of 140 passengers, and is catered.  Let me know.

ive sent my entry off and booked accom. in jindabyne. cathy and i will be staying the monday night ( us west aussies will need to attend delegates meeting so we can organize the w.a. nationals !!! ). so now im looking forward to the cruise to sydney with the nsw guys on tues.

p.s. are you sydney people uncivilized ??
ive been looking for a hotel in sydney near the bridge ,operahouse etc. that has a spa bathroom but cant find one . any helpful suggestions ?
