I had the headlight rims on my FE re-chromed about 5 years ago - a great job at the time, but alas, there are now bubbles appearing from under the chrome.

If I was to get them re-done, is there any special treatment that will stop the die-cast from bubbling?

Bubbling in diecast is a chemical change in the metal structure, which unfortunately can't be stopped. I've been told by a chemist friend that the chroming process may even add to the reaction. Sad
