I've done a Complete VS column with all switches and the airbag to rear mount rack on my project  FE ute.

Are the steering shaft/joints using a splined end of D section (with cotter pins like torana) type steering rod ?

thanks air chief. vn commodore will be the donoe column.also i will be putting the 304 and turbo 700 into the panelvan as well.any hints with heater demister .can i use the one out of the vn.

The steering is using splined ends same as the commodore, I would take some photos for you but the car is now stored as i start work on my other project.

I don't think you'll fit the VN heater in there, do a seach or scan the older posts and you should find some discussion on this sort of thing. One of the guys was using hairdryers .

I've got an Ecotec V6 and auto box from my  VS  donor car for it. I've had most of the stuff for the build for a couple of years but I keep starting new projects and this one gets pushed to the back of the garage.

Hi Fatboy,

I have used the complete Vt Commodore steering column as well as VX indicator stalks.

The column fits after shortening the shaft, so that the spline on the colapsable column still meshes from the top piece to the bottom piece of the column.
I had a tensile bar made up to go from the commodore column to torana rack.

As for the heater/demister I mounted the unit behind the seats and then ducted the pipes to the front of the vehicle under the centre console.

hi fatboy,
cant help with the commodore steering but as far as heaters go, i have used the heater from a 60 series landcruiser. they used a small flatish heater mounted beneath the drivers seat to heat the passengers in the back. they work very well, i then had a shroud made up from aluminium (you could just use tin) with holes the right diameter for the demister ducts  around 35mm dia and another couple larger for piping for driver and passenger feet.
i ended up grabbing a couple of old vacuum cleaner nozzles, the flat ones used for fabric and stuff as my demister ducts everything is the right size and can be fit anywhere really. mine is tucked up beneath the dash.
