Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone could help me solving a problem with my 5 speed celica gearbox. I have just had the box out to have rear bush that supports the tail shaft yoke replaced and a check over the rest of the internals, as I was having trouble getting into gear. The stick would stop just before engaging and would need a bit of effort to engage any gear.

I had the work done by a specialist and was told nothing wrong but now after reinstalling it will not go into gear at all, it just grinds. The clutch is disengaging and plate is free and when engine is off and clutch in it still would not go into gear. Any help would be great.

Cheers Craig

Take the selector out of the housing and check that it has been positioned correctly, then while it's out see if you can select gears with a screwdriver. If not, then the selectors may not be mashed properly inside the box.
If you're not in a hurry, we'll be back home next week and I can have a look at an old box I have at home.
