Hi Guys, Today i finally bought my first FC ( since my last one back in 1973). This follows about 2 years looking for a car with as much orginality as it was reasonable to have. I am happy with what I got.
Getting it shipped down from QLD and Hopefully i will get it in the shed before my wife sees it..
I am an extremely happy little man.
regards Ian

Congrats.
A long time between drinks.
A pic before you hide it in the shed would be great.
Regards

Yeah, a long time indeed. it is easy to forget how reliable these cars were, now that we all drive modern vehicles, however i live near campbelltown and my family lived up near grafton. back in the early '70s i would hop into whatever holden i had at the time, no matter how poor the condition of the vehicle, and drive the 450 miles each way for the weekend. I was still an apprentice so the old cars were just holding together but the only breakdown i ever had was after i got to my parents house, i noticed that i couldnt change gears. The gear selector doovey had fallen off the inside of the steering column. I went down to the local tip in glenreagh, took one of the many cars laying around, fitted it and all was good. if the cars used a lot of oil, i just called in to a local garage on the way and got a couple of 5 gallon drums of old engine oil and used that to keep it topped up. Of course i never checked the oil levels, just topped it up if the engine started rattling or the light came on. Whatever came first. I bought this car from harvey Bay and i am tempted to fly up and drive it back but I just dont have the time. for about $600.00 i can get it delivered door to door. Still very excited though. Will post photos if i can work out how to do it.
regards
Ian
