Hi all,

Has anyone used POR15 /KBS top coats on an original steering wheel?  Huh
Seems a logical paint being polyester, super hard and flexible.

interested in opinions.

Yes i have used Por15 on a steering wheel. You just need to use a clear coat over it that is UV stable.
Works a treet.

Was thinking the Kbs top coat might be the way, as it is Uv stable.

I've used ordinary acrylic lacquer on Holden steering wheels without problem.  The main thing is to put quite a few coats of paint on the rim of the wheel so it doesn't rub through over time.

And as for cracks - there isn't much you can't fix with a die grinder and bog.

    I did a wheel for my FB years ago and filled the cracks with araldite after I openend them up a bit. Then filed / sanded the wheel smooth and gave to a mate who painted it with 2Pac and it came up sweet as.   The POR15 should work fine as it has a great finish and gloss so would look A1. Not sure about UV though.

used an epoxy 2-part putty..



Was looking at equivalent to POR15 but with UV.

seen the black top painted on a chassis the other day....
goes hard as...
panel beater hit it with a hammer,did not chip...
but is $$$$$
