I have a couple of old grease guns that just don't seem to work that well. Couple of pumps and that's it.. thinking of getting a pneumatic air gun... has anyone got one or have an opinion on them.. Should I just get a good manual one???

Nick,

The biggest problem I have found with pumps is that they have air locks in the media they are pumping.

So try & bleed all the air out of the pump before you  go & purchase a new pump.

There are air bleed plugs around the pump body for this purpose.

+1
for bleed the air

also another thing depending the viscosity of the grease you may need to lower the input pressure to 40-60psi to alow time for the grease to fall under gravity,

another option is to find a spring that will fit over shaft and on cover plate inside of drum to apply pressure to plate and force the grease gown to stop air locks

The mine near work was throwing a cordless one in the bin with 2 batterys charger ect (cos they are lazy fools)
i asked what was wrong with it and the end that clips on was buggered so i ripped an old one off a manual one and fitted it and wow how lazy is that spent all day looking for nipples (he he) to grease
tractors done the FE got a greasin   everything is greased.

Highlly recommend one unsure on price tho but it takes a standard cartridge.

I grabbed a pneumatic one from tradetools, was $36 if i remember, was cheaper than most of the hand action ones I could find and does a great job, specially when you can't jack the car up too high and you have little room to work with.
