Hi,

I am at the closing stage of a restoration and I need a little bit of advice.

Just wondering if someone would be able to tell me the best paint to use to paint the red section on the Holden tailgate badge on my FC.

Also, I am wondering what type bottom seat surround was used on the camper seat.

Thanks in advance.

Enamel paint is best for badges since undercoat is generally not used

The bottom seat surround was always a genuine item with the top section cut off. I have seen one car which had a clip on full size seat surround.

Thanks for that.  I will try and hunt down signal red.

Ken, do you have any pictures of the modified seat surround?

The colour depends on how pedantic you want to be - I mix some black with the signal read to get a darker shade that is identical to original (As discussed in other areas, maranello red is a very good match to the original colour). The seat surrounds are cut off level with the horizontal section of the surround - remember these were not a GMH fitting so were just cut as needed by the companies doing the conversions. There are at least 6 companies that I have seen and some were better than others. Most used a piece of edged and hemmed vinyl screwed to the lower and upper surrounds to cover the cut areas. They were rarely beautiful!

Thanks Ken.  That has helped a lot.  It looks like my vehicle will be on the road hopefully by the end of next month.  We just need to sort out these fiddly bits.....
