I'm sure this is a lot easier than I am making it.
How do I stop the shaft turning.
I can only undo the top nut with a socket so I can't hold the shaft!!!!
Thanks in anticipation.

get someone to hold the shock or if on your own put a vise grip or ratchet strap on it and try that other than that rattle gun if you have one

Don't they have a slit where you put a flat blade screwdriver to stop it turning.

But they are down in the whole on the rear so unless you had say a spark plug socked with a hex around the top so you could hold it with a shifter and put a screw driver down the centre?

The original ones have two flat spots on the very top, but didn't help even with a go through 19/32 spanner.
WD 40 spray and the vice grips worked very well in a very rusty FC station sedan.  Wink

Thanks for the help.
Took two people, one to undo the nut the other under the car holding on to the top section of the shock absorber.
Just have to get the springs reset and suspension all done.
