No, not a trick question, "What colour is an orange?", but somebody way back when painted my gray engine blue, the block, oil pan, etc.  So, on the original "gray motor" what was painted gray, and what shade was it?
Thanks a million  Wink

hey there Ute-opia,

i think you`ll still find the grey motor paint color at rare spares in a can

the engine was grey , also the oil filler cap , breather pipe , pullys and bolts .

if you want a complete list of what color was what
eg:what was black , grey or even cadium plated ,
let me know and i might be able to scan you a list for your engine bay

regards coolaride

Howie,  I wrote a full engine bay colour list in one of the past Vic newsletters.  It covers every item in the engine bay and then some.   I will get a copy of the newsletter for you.  It may even be in one that I gave you at the last meeting.

Regards   Ken

Coolaride,
Please please please!
Could you send me the details on what was painted what etc.
I'm restoring an FE standard for a wealthy man who can't do it himself anymore.
(Not that I'm gonna get wealthy by doing it for him)
He's a fastidious old bugger and he does want it totally original.
Thanks in advance, Steve

Hi guys,
Any PPG/Dulux agent should be able to mix you some Holden engine grey in enamel off the formula. If your local stockist doesn't have it, I have the formula in a book at home somewhere.

As an aside, who is "coolaride"? The reason I ask, it looks like you have a picture of the front seat of my FC.

Cheers,

Hi Ken
Is there any chance you could place that colour listing some were on the forum or in the tech area. I would love a copy for my folder. I will need it some time in the future. I would also hazard to say many others would appreciate the info as well.
