Hi all, I fired up my 202 today in my ute and had a couple of issues.
I bought one of those cheap tall rocker covers to allow for the roller rockers it has a breather at the front and a pcv ready hole at the rear. The breather hole still has a solid rubber grommet in place and the rear hole has a rubber grommet with a hole for pcv valve
I was trying to bed the cam in and it started pumping oil out the rear pcv(no valve fitted but hole taped up) hole.
When I tried to shut it down after about 10mins at 2000 rpm it would not shut down.
I pulled the coil lead out of the electronic dizzy but it continued to pre ignite and it wasn't until I choked the su's by hand that it finally died.
I dont want to start it again until I sort it out so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Gary C

Chuck the rocker cover away or fit a baffle plate under the PCV hole.

And check your static timing is at the correct setting. As a starting point 6 degrees will be fine.

To do this get no1 close to TDC compression stroke and then align the mark on the harmonic balancer at 6 degrees on the timing scale on the timing cover. Move the dizzy until the centre of the rotor is aligned with the mark in the top of the dizzy body.

This will get it close.

If the engine got hot then it might diesel when you turn it off. When you run it at 2000rpm for that period of time it helps to run cold tap waterover/through the radiator, or use a supplementary fan to assist cooling.

One of the common issues with red motors is that they pump too much oil to the rocker area. Do you have a high volume oil pump?

Thanks Craig, I will try and get a better rocker cover as you say.
What sort of pcv and breather cap if any do you suggest and where do you run the pcv if fitted?
It has a standard oil pump.
We have a huge fan for entering confined spaces and I ran that onto the radiator while running the engine so it kept quite cool.
I will check the timing again also.
Thanks again for your help.

The best rocker covers are the cast Kilkenny ones.

The one below is listed at under $200.00 on the American autos website.

If the engine isn't too wild then run the PCV into the intake manifold as per factory, or better still vent it to atmosphere using an EH style walking stick.
