To have a smooth flowing progress report i am starting a new thread here and copied bits of others here - Hi all, i have just joined the forum last night and thought i might introduce myself having bought my FC special sedan in 1985 doing an almost ground up resto and then losing interest untill now. Spent 4 years overseas and then got into 4wding (still am) and only now after thinking about it for a few years and finding this forum i am keen to get stuck in and finish it. I joined the Vic club in 1987 but lost interest after a couple of years ( or more the case interest shifted onto other things ). I will post up some photo's when i get a chance but here is a quick run down - 58 special sedan, stripped to bare metal and painted 2 tone Salamanca red over Sable silver ( Torana colours), CRS chassis kit, CRS R&P steering kit, celica 5spd, HR front end with LJ disc and calipers, HR diff, 186S motor with 2 piece cast headers, S 2brl manifold (carby to be decided), also have 2 x 3.8 ltr Buick V6's that i bought to go in,1 is a 78 and 1 is a 79 with hi port heads and an Edelbrok 4 brl manifold, HR prem buckets original rear. I will have many questions about some of the missing pieces of my resto as i have been out of the old car loop for a while.

Since my original post above back in September i have a new plan of attack to bring my FC into the future a bit, well at least forward from 1985. Have since collected a VN diff, HQ stubs/calipers and short ps steering arms and VN discs, VN fuel tank although still thinking about an XB tank. And also from a previous post..... Today i'm happy as a pig in shite because........................ i bought a bellhousing that was to suit a chev into an early hilux (with steel case 5spd) but it had undrilled bosses that i was told were for a holden V8 but the shape looked like it would suit something else, so i slid it onto the back of my Buick V6 and 2 holes and the other undrilled bosses line up . I had a GM bh that i bolted to my new bh and drilled the other 4 holes and now it all bolts together nicely - had a trial with a spare block i

Cleaned up my stubs and steering arms ready to fit the VN rotors and HQ calipers so i can swap them with the HR stubs with LJ hubs/discs, also had the grill frame blasted so painted that ready to assemble the grill. Will be collecting a VK com diff to fit untill i finish off my shortened VN diff.

Update, update. Its been a busy time last few months and last sunday got a chance to do some more on my FC, fitted the new rotors/bearings/seals and put the BMW wheels on so i could drop it on the ground for the first time in 20 years , still have to make the brackets to mount the diff but its starting to look like a car again. Wheels are the wrong offset but will do untill i get the rest sorted out and at least i can maneuver it around the garage to remove the 179 and make the mounts for the Buick V6.

Well i cant believe its almost 4 years since i did any work on the FC or posted any updates . Not that there has been any real updates thought i have done some small updates in this time, but it has made it out into the sunlight in probably the first time since it went in just after the garage was finished - in 1988 ! Have got a couple of new toys since being a 74 Kombi and a Triumph Daytona T595 , things have got a bit easier both financial and family wise so now have a bit more time for the toys. Still dont have a garage to work in at home but working on fixing that shortly.

How are you going?
About 5 weeks after your post i royally smashed my tibia into 5 pieces which took 14 screws and a titanium plate to put back together, after 26 months i feel that my ankle is back to about 75 % and no longer walking with a limp. Needless to say not much has happened in that time, but i am about to get back into it as i am running out of time to make my 50th in August next year.

That's a very nasty smash. I'll bet the past couple of years were tough. Sincerely hope you continue to improve even more.
