Andy  Check with your nut and bolt supplier as they should have the captive nuts.  As an alternative find an electronic installer who installs equipment in racks and ask for rack nuts.  These are normally metric.  The ones I used were metric however I ran a 1/4" UNC tap through them and all seems well.

Thanks for the offer fchoon, much appreciated, I know all the boys at Ovesco

As I could not get any originals I followed Kieth's idea, and come across 6mm cage nuts - Available from Cetnaj Electrical Sandgate store, also available from J R Turks electrical both have stores Aus wide. (not everywhere  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy)

Unbelievable how close they are to original, but as Kieth's comments if you don't want metric run an imperial tap through them.

I ordered special from specialised wholesale 1/4 unc cage nuts for a job a while back.

I think Quad electrical does a lot of "LEGO" pre fab switchboards they probably have a heap as well.

too easy
