help i want to paint chequers under the bonnetbut not sure how to go about it so if any one has done it before can they do a how to on doing it  thanx in advanced lindsay 58

I think the best way would be to paint the base colour first, then get a signwriter to cut the checker pattern for you out of vinyl, apply that to the bonnet and then paint with the second colour, remove mask and bobs your uncle.

I have never done it, but I imagine paint the lighter colour first over the entire surface. Then with good quality masking tape, mask off the squares, then paint the second colour.
