hi everyone,

i was just wondering if anyone knows a really good quality chrome plater type guy in the sydney area. i have heard many horror stories of how people have had everything re-chromed, only for the plating to flake off in less than a year.

i have also been told that the pollution laws in nsw are quite strict, which affect how strong the plating solution can be, thus adversly affecting the quality. the laws are apparently looser in other states, but if anyone has had good experiences with sydney companies, i'd be keen to hear from you.

thanks,

simon

Simon,

I think we've all heard the horror stories.  As I understand it, the pollution laws that apply in Sydney mean that copper can't be used in the rechroming process here.  However, this law doesn't apply in Wollongong, Newcastle or further afield (those places are so polluted to begin with, I guess Roll Eyes).  Chrome 4 Cruising (of Girraween) send most of their stuff down to some place in Albury to get the work done, so I know plenty of people have done likewise and cut out the middle man, so to speak.  I've also heard good reports of a place in the 'gong, and could probably get the name if you wanted.

Hope that helps,

Re Chrome,

There is an electroplater in Queanbeyan. His name is Shane and the company is called Electoplating Technologies. I have used him for years and I have brought work from Bargo to him and every one I have sent to him have always been happy. I personally recommend him and I have not seen a bad job of his. He does alot of Harley work from as far away as Qld.

Also he was much cheaper than the Albury guys

There is a good plating shop in Canberra called Chrome World.
They did my EH Bars for me and they both came out very nice.

It was easy to as My front bar was Fairly damaged but they said that it did not matter cause they have got a bar beater who is very good, so that save me from finding someone to fix it.

There in Fyshwick PH: 02 6280 4265 or i found them at http://www.chromeworld.net.au.

There are a couple in Newcastle, Hamilton Chrome do an excellent job but are quite expensive. Cardiff electroplating is another one I have used. I've never had any problems with them and they are cheaper.

i know this is an old post but for what its worth. electroplating technologies in queanbeyan ( just outside canberra) does an absolute fantastic job. i cant reccomend them higher. they did all my work, steel and cast and not a blemish on them. as the price of copper has gone through the roof chroming wont be as cheap as it was say 6 years ago but the finish they got from my dented bumpers is incredible. Wink Grin Wink

if i had the money i'd get everything else done  Undecided
well worth a call
