Hello all,

While replacing a rusted out dog leg on an FE, I noticed it was only single skinned (outer only)

There is an area behind the dog leg which appears to be designed to catch water.  A small 1cm deep trough behind the dog leg with no drain.

The wagon from memory had an inner and outer skin and no exposed trough area.

So ...do some cars have outer an inner layers or...Huh

Just out of interest.

Cheers

I could write a novel on this question. Early FE's had a problem with structural integrity and as such rear screens would pop out occasionally and body sag could occur causing the rear doors not to close. This was fixed with a number of new panels being inserted into the later FE's. One of these new panels was the double skin on the dog leg. Date was about March 1957.
