Hi my 59 FC has been fitted with a HR disc front end & booster & I think probably an EH or similar steering box & sports steering wheel. Will an original FC steering box couple back to the HR front end? Is it a relatively easy task as I am still learing as I go? Does anyone in SA have a complete FC sterring box, wheel etc available if its viable to change back?

Cheers Perce

Original column (including steering box) should be a bolt-in replacement. If you're planning on returning to the king-pin front end you'll need to get the pitman arm with it, as the one you've got will be a HR unit.

It's much simpler to replace the entire column than attempt to replace just the steering box.

cheers

Cheers for that Ret. I was hoping it would be just a matter of changing the complete steering box & retaining the HR front end.
Thanks Perce

Perce,

If you want to fit an FC steering box with a HR front end, this will be OK, you just need to retain the HR pitman arm which will bolt straight on to the FC steering box. Column and steering box is a bolt in operation.

Perce,
the other thing you will notice when you have fitted an FC sterring column is-
"why am I sitting so close to the steering wheel?"  Huh
The original column is a lot longer than the EH column you are taking out Wink
