Copper Head Gaskets

Hi Everyone
Did early greys have copper head gaskets as standard, or did they only come in the industrial motors? There are a few copper sets in the upcoming NZ auction that I'd like to grab and I'm curious as to whether they're standard equipement or aftermarket.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just checked parts book and only two head gaskets listed, one to FC and another to EJ. There is a special service gasket listed also for all motors but it says it has enlarged rear water ports only. Sorry does not say what they are made from.
Possible a Kiwi innovation.

A few years ago i wreck an fx ute and it was fitted with a
copper head gasket the motor (from the Engine #)was
made about 1949 but the ute was a 52

All early head gaskets, not only Holden, were made of copper and asbestos.   Check out the swap meets where there are literally hundreds of head gasket sets still available - even for greys.
You will find that all the Holden head gaskets in the original blue and gold boxes which ran up to EK I think, all had copper head gaskets.
These are good to obtain and I would recommend getting them in the auction if you can, but dont pay too much for them since they are not really that rare.
