Hi all,
       When changing over to an alternator from generator, can the regulator in the engine bay be removed?
If so is there some rewiring necessary or can the regulator just be disconnected?

Most of the wiring is rerouted to the alternator except for the horn positive wire which must be sourced from somewhere else.

So for the wires disconected from the regulator can be left unattached and sealed?

Michael, I assume you are using an alternator with inbuilt reg?  If so the wiring is as follows after removing them from the old regulator. The alternator should have 2 terminals on it, one larger than the other.

D terminal   there are 2 brown wires - one goes to the generator and the other goes to the light on the dash. These 2 wires need to be joined together with a suitable connector and insulation tape and then the generator end attached to the smaller alternator terminal to activate the light.

F terminal   one blue wire - this comes from the generator and can be removed.

B terminal   3 red wires - one is power from the battery via the solenoid, one is power to the light switch & ignition and the last is power for the horn.  You need to run a wire from the solenoid to the back of the instrument panel and another from the battery to the large terminal on the alternator.
It is preferable that this should be done using new wires and connectors since this is the critical power supply for the whole car electrics, but you can join the wires together as long as you use a suitable connector and insulant material.
Then another wire needs to be run from a convenient power supply to the horn.

      Thanks, from looking at the wiring diagram, I figured this was the way to go, just needed someone with more knowledge of these things to confirm my thoughts, before I start cutting wires.
