(with apologies to The Beatles...)

It was 50 years ago today,
The General's "FC" saw the light of day
It's never gone out of style
Over many a country mile
So let's give a very hearty cheer
For the car we've loved all these years
General Motor's FC Holden Car!

On the 6th May 1958, the FC Holden rolled off the production line and into legend. During its 19 month production run, it held a staggering sales record of 52.9%. For every person who bought a car that wasn't an FC Holden, there was someone else who did buy one. It's a sales record that's never been bested.

Happy 50th Birthday FC Holden!

If you haven't grown up by 50, you don't have to.

Hi all.

You're not going to believe this but I just bought "Thelma" this morning with no idea it was her birthday. She is also a 58 model.

Cheers

Was having brekkie with 'the leader of the opposition' this morning when she asked "do you know what day it is today?" Almost replied with a smartarse "yeah, Tuesday", but I knew what she was on about, so I said "yeah, its the 50th Anniversary!". She looked at me strangely, and said "50th??". I said "yeah, the first FC was made this day 50 years ago".
She just glared at me, and said (most uncharacteristically) bugger-all else, then left for work... This left me rather perplexed about her reactions; she's usually mildly interested in things FC.
Later on, I realised today is our wedding anniversary...    Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

Both your girls need attention lavished on them today. Chocolate and flowers for one, and a gentle but thorough buffing for the other...  Shocked

cheers

Thats good advice, Ret; but I've tried it before.....  I'm certain she appreciates the flowers, but the chocolates stay untouched on her front seat.
As for the thorough buffing, that does it for her every time...

I solved that one years ago, if you give the the car a good buffing, from a womans point of view to make it equal you have to give them flowers, chocolate and a good buffing Wink Grin Grin

jod34n, we've been into the gentle but thorough buffing for 36 years now; I reckon I'll survive...

Was that car I briefly saw on ebay with a buy it now of $10 really your old FC?  Wink
I think it may take another 50 years to get past that slip up.

Alex, just had a quick look in the shed; the flowers are wilted a bit, the chocolates are untouched, but she's still there.
Somehow I doubt that Rita would sell her; after all, she was the one that pressured me into buying the FC.
After pizza, very good red wine, and a thorough but gentle buffing (as suggested by several helpful and understanding people on the forum), all is now well...
