Whe I had my car sprayed black, I had them do some other work like repairing the cracks in the boot lid around the hinge mounts that made the boot lid "floppy".
Anyway, they put a plate over it and now the boot sits a little too high around the hinges, is there any adjustment for this or do I get the grinder out, remove the plates and repair the crack itself?

Stinky, the height adjustment at the back of the boot lid is done by shimming either the front or rear bolt. You will be able to get the boot lid down a bit by shimming the rear bolt - depends how thick the plate is.
