And now there are 2 FE Station Sedans for sale on ebay. What are the odds on that?

Funny that hey ! , Happens very often indeed on this site . We have lurkers on here thats for sure but I would suggest that doing this will drive prices down not up . If I have something rare it will sell but if there is another one or two also available then hey I dont need to spend so much because I'll just get the other one . I know this ones probably just a coincidence

Hi minifcvan, The ID numbers look good, could you get the chassis number for us as well and I might be able to see how special it is. Cheers, Geoff_K

By those numbers it looks as though it may be an early one.

The grey wagon I looked at in Queensland had a white dash to match the top colour, as does Marks (not white of course).
The Corsair tan one I saw had a black dash. Did they change over at the same time as the sedans? Neil, who owns the Corsair Tan car thought the grey wagon was an early one.
For what its worth, the other "wagon" on ebay is a converted panel van.
Cheers John

Now that I've got the beige with the grey, I'm looking for the cream, the bone, the ivory and the off white

hi geoff,i cant find the chassis numbers anywhere. Ive looked on both sides of the sub frame,so i give up cheers mark On an FE they will be about 1/4" high, stamped into the curve in the skirt where the horizontal and vertical faces meet, or on the horizontal face, between the regulator and the battery or thereabouts. Sometimes it's easier to find it by feel. They're hand-stamped, not like FC ones that are on the RHS, or engine numbers. Unevenly spaced and/or stamped, they can be very difficult to read. Hope that helps, RET

FWIW, my corsair tan FE wagon has the black charcoal dash too. It's a 58.

FWIW = For What It's Worth. The charcoal dash-top was almost certainly changed across all the body-styles at the same time. The FE-219 that the NSW Club had until recently was a February '58 build and it had this feature. Earlier FEs had the dash-top painted thus: 215, 217, 219, 2106, 2104: same as rest of car 225, 229: secondary colour (or duo-tone colour for cars single-tone exterior) Either way, a flattening agent was added to the paint for this area to reduce glare. To quote a Service Bulletin on the subject: The flat paint finish of the upper shroud panel located immediately above the instrument panel is achieved by adding to the regular Duco 25-30% by volume of BALM Duco Flatting Base No. 299-9733.
