Steering Column Plates

When refitting the steering column/firewall plates, should I be using some sort of sealer?

Anything to keep out the fumes. Otherwise your cabin will become...er...Stinky!

The original plates had a rubber around the perimetre, as well as one around the column.

The column one is still available from the usual outlets.

If you weren't wanting to remake a rubber for the outside edge, I would use a windscreen type sealant, rather than an adhesive sealant, as you will have great difficulty removing it at a later date.

Same applies for the gearbox inspection cover, however, from memory you no longer have one!

Thanks Eddie, I was starting to think I was being shunned   Although with a nickname like Stinky, I'm kinda used to it

  G Day stinky.
I went to clark rubber and found just the right U shape strip that would just wrap around the two half plates nicely once I postion the plate and start inserting the screws and just be for they start to tighten I fit the U shape rubber  channel around it  and cut of the remander and proceed to tighten the screws.
