Just went down and fitted the 14inch wheels to my car.

Rears (7") seem to be fine (though the car is still on the stands)

Problem is the fronts which are standard rims are hitting the steering arms. Could they be HT-G rims as opposed to HK? They have the eight holes in them. (Slim maybe able to help here)

Car has HR front end, other than that I know little.

Also, studs on all four hubs only protrude just over halfway into the wheel nut.

What's the easiest fix for this?

The rims you have are HK. They have the eight holes in 4 pairs. The HT-G rims have a different offset which would clear your arms. HT-G rims look like HD-R but 14 inch diameter.

SRV, I have the same problem as you at the moment.
I have the HK rims, but the tyres fouled the steering arms.
current setup -
HR Front End
CRS drop spindles
LC/J Torana Discs and Calipers
HR steering arms.

I have been looking around for HK steering arms, for a comparison. None cheap enough yet, I figured these would fit though. I did try some reset HK rims, but they fouled the guards.

The car Harko got from Gree, would probably have the perfect set-up, but it uses HT/G rims and I am not sure of the steering arms.
Harko, can you help?

I think I will pull off a steering arm tomorrow and take it down the wreckers for a comparison. I do have a pair of HT/G rims I might try also, but like yourself, I have a pair of HK 14x7s on the back and spent a lot of money getting them that way.

hey stinky, please let me know how you get on. I'd be intersted to hear from Harko also.

I was thinking of using a spacer, but then I'm up for longer wheel studs as well (how do your studs look?) Plus I think they may foul the guards, even though they're only 5ins the car seems quite low in the front.

I lucked out with my 7's as they seem to be spot on.

I'm a little pissed about the fronts as I was hoping to have it back on it's feet today.... waited a whole week to get the time to get to the shop...... Sad

Stinky, if I was to use a spacer, how thick would it be? There is a guy in Adelaide offering 2.5mm spacers, but at nearly $50 including postage for 4 of them it's a little steep.

Do you think these would cure the problem, and if so do you want to go halves?

Tonight is a garage night, so hopefully I'll have an answer.
by previous reckoning there are a couple solutions.

1. Spacers, but I think the tie rod end needs to come inboard about 1 inch, there may not be room.

2. Different steering arm that either moves the tie rod end up, down or inboard from it's present position.

I just took off the steering arm and will check at the wreckers if a HK arm will do the trick. I have another holden steering arm (off what, I do not know, HQ or torrie) but it's about 2 inches shorter than the HR unit. I wouldn't want to try it though as I reckon it would effect the steering too much.
The spacers may work, but the price you quoted was a bit steep. There is a local engineer I know that could probably do the job for a lot less.
