Does anybody know if FC utes came in a range of two tone colour combinations? if so was the style similar to the sedan ie: primary colour on main body with second colour on roof and side window frames etc? thanks

Tony,
All utes and panel vans were single colour only.  There have been rumours from time to time of 200 (the number varies) "Special" utes and panel vans built ex factory.  However, I don't believe there is any truth to them.  There are certainly no paint code combinations listed in the GMH service literature to support it.
There are some utes and panel vans getting about with the chrome dog-leg and two-tone paint jobs.  The stainless trim is taken from a station wagon (because of the location of the petrol cap), and unless someone has gone to the sort of trouble John Wanner did with his gorgeous convertible, there will be an obvious break in the stainless where the wagon's back door would have been.
And just one final point - the two-tone treatment of the sedans varies significantly.  From memory your FC is an early 58, with the colours as you describe (primary colour front, second colour roof, boot and inserts).  Throughout the model run there were three distinct styles, of which IMHO the second is by far the nicest.  All the details can be found at http://www.fefcholden.org.au/techinfo/fcpaintstyles.html
hope that helps
