Help with correct "King Pin Set' fitting

Hi,
The King Pins in my EK need replacing but i am a little confused as to what size kit to replace them with. if i am replacing the whole King Pin set up including the Cups which hold the actual shafts/king pin then dont i just get the same size kit again or do I have to get "Oversized' ones like the ones Rare Spares sells.
Help from the Forum is much appreciated

Hi Kermit

The reason they sell oversize kingpin sets is because the hole in the upright where the kingpin is held by the cotter often wears loose. The only way to fix this is to have this reamed out to the next oversize so the pin is a good tight fit.

Generally speaking fitting king pins properly is beyond the scope of a home workshop.

You're better off just buying 2 exchange assemblies, were all the machining & fitting is already done. They just bolt on.

I've got to agree with Doc here - in my younger days of "I can do anything" I tried this job and the kingpins ended up lasting less than 2000 miles.
Very dissapointed, I then bought a set from Rare Spares and they lasted well.

Ditto what Dr Terry & Ken have said.
I replaced quite a few king pin sets in the early days as a mechanic and unless you have good quality reamers with sharp blades to get the tolerence right, the bushes will flog out in no time at all. Change over units are the way to go.
