WOW Les, these are, in my opinion, about THE best photos ever posted on this site. Thanks so much for digging them up. I remember Liverpool speedway, just near where Slim lives now. Bloody developers moved in and put houses all over the top of it Thanks again!!! Craig.

Thanks for the pics Les....( I think ? ) Great to see old pics like that, but damn, am I the only one that looked at those pics with one hand on the mouse and the other holding my chest in sheer fright at seeing such good pieces of chrome trim, rust free panels, good subframes, bumpers and everything else being smashed into oblivion in the name of fun ? Interesting to note, that the 58 car, is also wearing a set of scratch plates and for some reason...an FE bonnet. Fair enough to smash up the FE bonnet, but all that FC stuff ( ooooh aaaaah that will cause a fuss ). Cheers Mark ( go easy on me you FE guys )....just having fun !

Glad you likes the pics boys... Hey Mark, if your're worried about all those panels and chrome, don't look at the next pic.... this is a shot of some old cars BEFORE they start a demolition derby, sometime in January 1978 I think..... check out all those panels eh....!!! They're all in such good nick!!! Cheers Les....

This message can only be short, as I'm rapidly losing oxygen since Les has now ripped out my lungs aswell as my heart.
I hope they went down fighting and that beautiful 2 tone FC special at the top right of the picture lasted the longest before having it's.....nah...can't say it...out of air ....

Man, That is SAD!! I know where you are coming from, Mark. I love your last post, very dramatic! Check out the guy in the EJ. Note the bonnet spear & no windscreen. One good bang to the front of that & there is a bloody good chance that spear will become exactly what it is named after! A "spear" in his head. Dangerous! .........................But then again, they are wrecking cool Holdens, so it could be a case of poetic justice. Rob J

Fb's and Ek's must have been popular! The equivalent of a demolition derby today using Camiras.
Cheers Geoff

Thanks for posting those pics Les, very much appreciated (really). Blokes like me (under 30) aren't likely to have seen anything like that before. I've never seen a demolition derby, let alone seen any FC's with RACE numbers on them Of course, the end results are tragic, but atleast someone got "before" shots...

Great pics Les. I can remember seeing the odd Demo Derby at Liverpool in my youth. I used to rock up there with my brother not long before it closed. Used to love the USA vs Aus sedan challenges. Regards Alex

Those pictures really do bring the ticker in to top gear it is all a bit too graphic!!!! Great find Les and i spose it illustrates how common early holdens were in the 60,s and 70,s and how little respect and admiration they were shown thank god people like us all are looking after classic australian motoring history!
