Found a couple of bargains.....here's the link:

http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/marketplace/UsedCarDetail.asp?ID=2537710&Criteria=%40Make%3D%27HOLDEN%27%2C+%40Model%3D%27FC%27%2C+%40OrderBy%3D%27P2%27&NoOfRecs=2&PageNo=1&chkRows=500

I hope this link works.

I'm not sure if the owner is a member of this site, either way, it's probably worth twice this much to the owner...so no offence intended by saying"Bargain" when the asking price is $41500.00

I was just searching for the highest priced old holden I could find, and this came up.......in a minute I'll post a link of an FJ for over $60 000.00

Has anyone got anything worth more that is for sale ?

IF the link doesn't work......just go to http://www.carpoint.com.au and search under Holden then FJ, FC ect...

Cheers

Sorry...it's been taken off the site.....

There was a custom FJ sedan....pretty sure it was $65000.00

It looked shocking ( My opinion only which means nothing )...but it was white, had custom headlights, grille, rear spoiler, flared guards ect ect.....looked like something from outerspace ( once again, just my worthless opinion ).....but....$64 grand Huh?

Maybe if it was the 2nd or 3rd off the production line maybe.....oh well, I'll keep searching for the pic....I'm sure it was on Carpoint website....I'll post it when I find it !

Cheers

Sounds like an old FJ they labeled "JIGSAW" ,It had camira type headlights  ,a whale tail rear spoiler and yeah it was an absolute top notch custom but it definitely had to have parents who could love it..
Full feature on it in the late 80s Street Machine magazine, if ofcourse it is that car , I guess theres heaps of FJs that copped a grind or two in their era.

It has actually had a price reduction, it has been listed for a lot more before, but it is a truly well built car.

The best thing about JIGSAW was the blown six under the bonnet, maybe that's why it was worth so much  Shocked

I am not sure about "worth so much".

The $$$ value of anything is only what someone is willing to pay.  This probably ditates why you hardly ever get what you spent when selling a restored/modified car.  For that money people would do it themselves to know what had been done and to personalise their own way.

Just my opinion.

Harko...you may be right....it did have camira looking lights, and it did say it won awards and trophies ect...but like you say....it really did have a face ( and body ) that only a mother could love !

I've found in my time, that the more you change the look of something by going wild with the custom work, the less anyone else is prepared to pay for it, as it may not be their cuppa tea.

But if you spent the same amount of time restoring a car to factory original or near to it....or at least keep it looking like an FC, FJ or whatever, rather than turning it into an un-recognisable tonne of fibreglass and bog, there are usually more people interested in it, hence more chance of getting ridiculous figures like $65 000 .00

I hope he got his $60 odd grand, would have been worth twice that in time spent moulding the front end.

Gday All,
I know the car you are talking about, a friend Dave Johnson built the car back in the late 80's. He was probably one of the best builders of show cars at that time.  I saw the car before it ever went out of the garage.  138 supercharged, auto, camira headlights and white pearl paint.  It had bucket seats front and rear and a console that ran form the front under the dash through to the back window and again accross the roof, back to front.  His goal was to show eveyone that he could produce a car that was different in many different ways, so to sell his skills to the show car building world.

He really was a down to earth guy, just with some vision.  I believe he sold the car for less than $10 000.  I think this rediculous price has been produced by one of the later owners. obviously with the vision of dollar signs.

Thanks Michael for the history lesson....you can understand more now, why someone would do this to a car, especially to show off his talents....but wish he could have started with a bucket of crap camira and tried to turn it into an FJ.   no whta would have been worth it !

$10 grand hey........sounds about right for that time, obviously as you say, it must have been a previus owner trying to make money out of someone elses hard work.

Thanks for the info

Cheers
